"San Xi Tang Fa Tie" is a masterful engraving, regarded as one of the greatest works in the collection of calligraphy albums. After its completion, only a limited number of fine copies were granted to favored officials. In the 17th year of the Qianlong reign (1752), five additional volumes of famous calligraphy from various dynasties were carefully selected from the imperial collection and engraved on stone. With this, the "San Xi Tang Fa Tie" was finally completed. By the late Qing dynasty, its influence had spread widely. The original stone is now embedded in the wall of the Yugu Lou (阅古楼) in Beihai Park, Beijing.
